Transfer week is definitely a highlight in the mission. The excitement and joy of transfers is always fun to see. Missionaries are seeing and hugging old companions and friends; and exchanging luggage, car keys and phones with their new ones. Then they get in their cars and go back to work— teaching, planning, finding, studying.

Elder Kennan always says this is what Heaven must look like. I have to agree!

Brother Isgrigg (Fleet assistant from the Vacaville Stake is always here helping missionaries.) Hugs all around; Hello, Elder Jensen! Elder Myers is famous for his cookies. I think Elder Wiseman is following in his footsteps— good footsteps to follow! Sisters Doner, Baird, Gabrielson and McMaster; more hugs.

A tradition recently started is a ‘tunnel of thanks’. Missionaries line up and give high-fives to departing missionaries. I love this so much!🥰

The departing missionaries gather and write their advice/testimonies to incoming missionaries. Elder Kennan was asked to give a spiritual thought at the beginning of this time of reflection and writing.

Missionaries come into the office to get answers to questions and to pick up materials. It’s a busy hive! We love Sisters Chynoweth & Cliften! The hallway by the mission board is always a popular place to stop, look, & visit; Elders Farnsworth, Sister Schneider & Elder Branson; Elders Brown & Davis, Sisters Chase & Hankins, Sisters Knudsen, Brady, Chappell, Curtis and Jones.

Elder Lee, Sister Clifton, Sister Crandall—3 of the great missionaries going home—they have been great leaders! The last is a truck full of luggage!

We have to get one last photo before they leave😥 Glad for their parents—they take a piece of our hearts home with them.

With goodbyes said, now we say Hello to the new missionaries coming in. President and Sister Quinn welcomed us to their home and provided Mr. Pickle sandwiches and eclairs for dessert. The office couples & the Wilsons provided salads.

Elders Judd & Young picked up the sandwiches— Mr. Pickles deli had lost our order, so they had to wait until it was made! President & Sister Quinn were surprised at the delay-it had never happened in the year they’ve been doing this! New missionaries are ready to eat and get to sleep after a long day of travel which started at about 3 am. This is a great photo of Sister Lemon!

The next day was training for the newbies, getting their companions, and finding out where they will be serving. But first— a breakfast of biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns, fruit, yoghurt, and juice— provided by the mission and prepared by “The Cooks of Mormon” (the office missionaries & the Wilsons. Sister Nate bought us these cute aprons.)

The Wilsons and Sister Lemon; Elders Chandler & Young; Yummy! Not any left; ElderWilson (always ready for a goofy photo); and us!

Sisters Chapell & Jones needed help getting a new windshield. We were happy to help. It was a great ending to a busy day. The Junior missionaries put in long days. We, on the other hand are ready for bed early in the evening.

It’s January and flowers are blooming! This is the park down the block from the mission office. The turkeys are in the neighbor’s yard.

The 2nd week in January was a blessing to us! We are grateful to be here!
