A rainy weekend at Camp Liahona
A rainy weekend at Camp Liahona

We started the week by providing dinner for the missionaries in the Bennett Valley Ward. We fed them physically, they fed us spiritually.

Training with the Frodshams continued.

We drove to Suisun to introduce them to Rick and Jean (not pictured) at Carstar where we get cars repaired.

And.. a disaster and a miracle. Jennifer, our daughter has been taking good care of our house. What a wonderful service she has provided for us! We love her and have appreciated her so much!

Our friend, Debbie has been doing a deep cleaning before we return home. When she went into a ‘closed’ room, she found this 3 ft hole in the ceiling! YIKES! We had a restoration company go have a look to assess the damage — worried for the worst.

In October 2023 just after we had left in August, one of our water heaters had broken and flooded the basement and we decided to just have it taken out. In the process, a line to a former swamp cooler had been turned on which had caused the damage in the ceiling. When Mike from the restoration company looked at it, he found that the valve was still on! It had been on for over a year! There was a pinch in the line that had stopped the water. He said it was an act of God that the house wasn’t ruined. I agree and am grateful. “It pays to pay your tithing!”— and serve a mission! Miracles still happening!

The other photos are helping us remember what our home looks like, and THE cat!🥰

When we see missionaries, we rejoice! It was Monday-their p-day. Then on Tuesday we went with Frodshams to Carstar in Suisun, then to Vallejo and Vacaville.

Elders Hawkins & Chandler talking to a friend; Elder Davis (it was p-day). Sister Freeman, Wright & Steinfeldt giving support. When we drove to Carstar (Actually, Sister Frodsham drove us) we took a Tiwi card to Elder Hall . They were at a district meeting.—Elders Largey, Heiner & Hall with the Frodshams and Elder Kennan. We also met Sisters Smart and Day In Vacaville to deliver a gas card and took them to lunch.

Sights we see along the way.

The Senior missionaries in the office got together for a farewell dinner.

At Mary’s Pizza Shack— Elder Kennan, the Frodshams, the Lemons, the Nates and Sister Schneider. What good friends we have made while here! The Camelias are starting to bloom, our turkey friends strutting their stuff.

Over the weekend, all of the Senior missionaries got together for a ‘missionary retreat’ at Camp Liahona. It is a 1.5 hour drive up winding roads, but well worth it. (On the way home we had to move rocks and a downed tree off the road since it had been raining.) The MLS missionaries really don’t see each other very often and the Camp Liahona couple have been there by themselves for the last 3 months, so it’s good to get together for support. President & Sister Quinn were also able to come up for a night, and they held a council meeting with us. It’s always a blessing to spend time with them. Each couple signed up to help with a meal during the weekend. Just a great time with good food and wonderful company in a beautiful place!

The Whitworths took us on a tour of the camp— it was enjoyable even in the rain.

Touring the camp. By Sunday, the river went from bank to bank due to the rain.

There are various activities to participate in throughout the camp. Axe throwing was pretty popular. It’s a beautiful camp!

Before driving back to Santa Rosa, we attended the Sunday meetings and had a ‘linger longer.’ Elders Henrie & Swenson also came— they are assigned to the area and visit a couple of times a month. It took my breath away when they walked in! Their missionary power precedes them! Notice the river—it rained the whole weekend.

We start packing and loading the car tomorrow. People ask, “Are you excited?” And I’m not sure how to answer—Yes and no. Yes to see family and friends at home. No to leave this incredible experience. 🎶Have I done any good…🎶
